Background

Mieke Van der Bijl-Brouwer (1975) is an assistant professor and member of the Scenario-Based Product Design group of the Laboratory of Design, Production and Management at the University of Twente. Her research focuses at the usability problems that can arise when products are used in ‘dynamic use situations’ which occur when products are used for varying purposes, by varying people and or in varying contexts. The main objective of her research is to develop a method that supports designers in dealing with these dynamic use situations. She combines her research with education in several bachelor- and master courses regarding ergonomics, scenario-based product design and industrial design engineering in general.

Within this project Mieke Van der Bijl-Brouwer will continue her research regarding dynamic use situations.
